Code of Conduct for the Queer Munch
Purpose
This queer-centered munch is a casual social gathering designed to connect individuals within the queer community who engage in or are interested in BDSM and kink. A "munch" typically refers to a relaxed meeting held in a public space, such as a restaurant or café, where people can discuss their interests in a safe environment. The term "vanilla" refers to non-kinky or non-BDSM activities and attire, creating a welcoming atmosphere for everyone, regardless of their experience level in the BDSM and kink communities.
Conduct Guidelines
- Inclusivity and Respect
- All participants are expected to respect each other’s pronouns, identities, and personal boundaries. Acknowledge the diversity within our community and practice cultural sensitivity.
- Health and Safety
- Masks are optional; KN95 masks will be provided for those who wish to use them.
- Participants must be up to date on COVID vaccinations unless prevented by medical issues.
- Discretion in Discussions
- Keep discussions about BDSM and kink topics at a considerate volume to avoid disturbing other patrons at the venue.
- Dress Code
- Adhere to a vanilla dress code; while sexy attire is acceptable, fetish wear should be avoided to maintain a comfortable atmosphere for all attendees.
- Community Etiquette
- This munch is a space for community building, not a marketplace. Please refrain from objectifying others or engaging in creepy behavior, such as unwanted advances or excessive personal questions.
- Be mindful of personal space and boundaries; consent is paramount in all interactions.
- Get permission before taking photos of other people or their things.
- Encouragement of Positive Interaction
- Engage positively with others, introduce yourself to newcomers, and share resources that may benefit the community.
- Gratitude to Staff
- Remember to tip your servers! Leaving a positive impression on the venue is essential for our community’s continued access to this space.
Examples of Violations
The following behaviors are considered violations of this code of conduct:
- Harassment: Engaging in unwanted verbal or physical advances.
- Disrespecting Pronouns/Identities: Ignoring or intentionally misusing someone’s pronouns or identity.
- Unwanted Physical Contact: Touching someone without their explicit consent.
- Creating a Hostile Environment: Making others feel uncomfortable through persistent unwanted attention or inappropriate comments.
Accountability
All participants are held to this code of conduct. Violations may result in a warning or removal from the event, or banning from Queer Munch CT, depending on the severity of the behavior. Please see our full accountability process below.
